Be Mindful of Your Energy: Why Feeling Bad For Someone Harms Both Of You (and what to do instead)

Greetings Divine child —

Because you are a conscious being, you are part of the collective consciousness of the universe. This means that your energy — the frequencies you emit via your thoughts, feelings, actions, and beliefs — affect the collective energy of the universe. Think of the collective consciousness/collective energy of the universe as a vast, expansive ocean. Every thought, feeling, action, and belief you and everyone else has is a drop in that ocean.

Now, let's go deeper. You know that each thought, feeling, action, and belief you have resonates at a specific frequency, attracting more of the same types of thoughts, feelings, actions, and beliefs to you. This works the same way in the ocean of the collective consciousness, just on a grander scale. What does that mean?

It means that the energies we emit affect not just our own experiences, but the experiences of the collective. Our individual drops (our thoughts and feelings) affect the ocean.

For decades now, scientists have been measuring the apparent effects of collective consciousness using data from various random number generators around the world. Movements like the Global Consciousness Project map how physical systems (like random number generators) can be influenced by coherent mental activity among large groups of people during world events. This is important because it reinforces how crucial it is to be mindful of the energies we all emit (via our thoughts, feelings, actions, and beliefs).

In this day and age, with the constant and overwhelming string of atrocities and transgressions on the news and social media, it's not always easy to consciously emit positive energies. Because we are sympathetic beings, we often feel bad for others when we hear of their struggle or see them in pain. And some of us are so empathetic that we will even take on other people's negative energies as our own. This, as you can imagine, solves nothing. Feeling bad for others is not only ineffective; it's harmful. When you focus on pain and struggle — whether it be yours or another's — you attract more of that energy into the collective experience.

I want to be clear: I am not encouraging you to turn a blind eye or deny the reality of struggle. I am only explaining the dangers of focusing your energy on 'feeling bad' for others. The energy of feeling bad for someone else will only attract more of that energy, which in turn will attract more reasons to feel bad. If you truly feel called to help out, then honor that call. Trust your intuition. And if you want to be of service in an energetic manner, I encourage you to consciously send healing and loving vibrations to the collective. Not out of guilt or because you think you should. But in the name of the collective experience which we are all a part of.

Even thought it might take conscious effort to emanate out the frequency of love and light, remember, you are one of the many creators in this universe, and your energy is powerful. Where you choose to put your intention and attention matters. You affect the ocean. Your energy affects the All. Take a deep breath, relax, and allow your light to shine bright for all to see. This is how we serve the greater good.

Eternally yours,

— D.p.

Remember who you are — you are Divine Love.
